Solopreneurs, here it is: Permission to nap

Updated: Jun 1, 2023

It is one of those days. No energy. Ever have one?

General life stuff is pushing me down. Instead of doing what I typically do, which is force myself to feel happy or better, I am letting myself have those feelings that I really don’t enjoy much.

At the same time, I am moving. Albeit slowly and without zest, but I am moving.

I have already done the usual, Asked myself, “Why?” I have uncovered valid reasons and am deciding to stay sad and tired, at least for now. I am just allowing it.

I would love to know what it is that you do. Feel free to reply. I will share the ideas in a later posting.

Here are the top things I do for positive soothing, when the energy is low, I feel down and I don’t feel like talking about it anymore or I have talked about it and I still feel low:

Allow. Instead of pushing away, go towards with curiosity. Even if I find answers, still allow the feelings.

Write. Make a laundry list of all the things that are bothering me or that are simply on my mind. It feels good to get it all out and to hear myself. Sometimes, just this is enough.

Breathe. Take time to rest and breathe. All that oxygen clears my head and the sound of breathing sounds like the ocean to me and wow, is that soothing.

Sleep. 20-minute naps are my favorite. If I am really zonked, 40 minutes. For me, this works better than coffee.

Get outside. Move my body, walk, bike, mess around in the garden, or simply toss my head upward to take in the sky and the trees. Feeling small in relation to nature is soothing

Seek fur and feathers. dog pets, cat pets or watch the squirrels or birds. Animals just don't let anything wreck their day. It is soothing to know that attitude can even exist!

There are so many things we can do to self soothe. My wish is for us to first allow all our feelings and then to offer ourselves kindness and positive soothing as often as possible.

Solo Entrepreneurs, Here’s permission. You deserve it. I deserve it. We deserve it. Go forth and self-soothe
