Celebrate The Humble Bumble...May 20th is World Bee Day!

The Beekeeper

Updated: Nov 19, 2022

I love bees. Why would we want to celebrate the humble bumble? According to the experts at World Bee Day..

"The greatest contribution of bees and other pollinators is the pollination of nearly three quarters of the plants that produce 90% of the world’s food." This proves that pollinators are indicators of our collective health. Without them our food supply would be just plain boring and sorely lacking. We desperately need our pollinators! Anyone can impact and support pollinators. Here are a few things I do:

  • Plant flowers (such as Bee Balm, red flower above) and plants (such as Milkweed) that attract pollinators like bees, humming birds and butterflies.

  • Support a Mason Bee House (Lisa's Bee Chalet above. I supplied the Mason Bees!) Mason Bees will also show up naturally!

  • Plant and foster flowering trees and native plants
